A Cut Above The Rest
The National Cadet Corps (Land) is one of the premier uniformed groups in Bukit View Secondary School. We are renowned for our many outstanding achievements and awards since our founding. We have been doing well consistently and achieved the Best Unit (Silver Award) for 6 consecutive years (2001-2007).
In line with the school’s strategic thrust in “All Round Student Development”, we infuse physical training such as foot drill, arms drill, camp craft, orienteering and others with character building so as to achieve a holistic development of our cadets.
Discipline also plays an integral role in our training, as it is important to keep cadets focused and alert. On the other hand, we are not just about giving and carrying out orders. We also engage in many adventurous and fun-filled activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, dragon boating, high rope elements, archery, paintball, soccer, basketball, floor ball and etc.
Besides the usual trainings and camps, NCC cadets also work closely with other CCAs in joint projects such as adventure cum service learning trips. An example would be the October 2008 Bintan trip with other uniformed groups. This trip provided the cadets to participate in activities such as kayaking, flying fox, archery and at the same time a chance to do their part for Mother Nature by planting mangrove trees along the coast of Bintan.
Our cadets have benefited immensely from all of these training and many of our former students have returned to serve as cadet officers after they have graduated.
Though we have accomplished a lot, we are never one to rest on our laurels. We will continue to take up new challenges and constantly strive to scale new heights.
