Goal/Objectives Students will be equipped with the basic knowledge, skillsand values relevant for the new job requirements in the services sector. The EBS subject focuses on the development of a range knowledge and core skills inbusiness and enterprise with particular emphasis on retail, travel and tourism,and hospitality industries.
This subject also provides the foundational knowledge andskills for progression to service-related courses at ITE and future employment.
Target Students
:
Maximum 20 Sec 3T1 students
Pre-requisite
:
Grade 1-3 in English
Grade 1-3 in CPA
Grade 1-5 in Mathematics
ITE courses relevant to the subject EBS:
1. NITEC in Service Skills in Office,
2. NITEC in Retail andTourism,
3. NITEC courses in Front Desk and Hospitality
4. Higher NITEC in Business Administration.
The polytechnics also offer a range of diploma courses in business and tourism.

EBS students from 3T1 took part in a range of activities in 2008 - 2009 as part of their experiential learning.

Café Enterprise
Café Enterprise is an initiative by the I&E Committee together with EBS, POA and F&N teachers for students to experience working in a real F&B workplace. Students went through a training course by the Café Staff and carried out duties like serving waffles, snacks and drinks to fellow students at the Café. The students also learnt the importance of bookkeeping by ensuring the balances of cash at the end of their shift.

In addition, in September, volunteers from 4T1 EBS students designed Teachers’ Day Cards for OSL fund-raising
EBS Work Experience Programme at F1 Grand Prix 2009 with Ritz Carlton, The Millenia
Eight shortlisted 3T1 students were selected to work in the Singapore F1 GP 2009 with Ritz Carlton, The Millenia. They worked for the duration of 3 full days as F&B staff as well as the Paddock F1 area. In addition, they came across the likes of Alonso and Hamilton during the course of their duties. It was an enriching and rewarding experience. Each participant will be given a Certificate of Participation for their services.
