The subject aims to develop the entrepreneurial spirit and creativity in students through an experiential learning project incorporating Food & Nutrition and simple Accounting concepts.

Food and Nutrition and Principles of Accounts Entrepreneurialship Programme

1.To conduct a simple market survey to determine market needs and wants [communicative skills]

 2.To develop an effective  marketing plan to support a healthy and nutritional diet [creative thinking skills]

 3.To draw up a simple budget for costing and pricing [critical thinking skills]

 4.To maintain simple accounting records for the drawing up an income statement [information processing skills]

 

Pedagogy:

To adopt experiential learning through a food sales to support the achievement of excellence in teaching and learning  

 

Experiential Learning Trip to Kukup 

The objective of the trip is to broaden the learning experiences of F & N students and to provide for their varied learning needs. They will be exposed to Methods of Food Preservation, Products of Fruits and Vegetables and hands on experience in preparation of Fish and Seafood dishes.

 

Food Science Module for Secondary Two Students

“What is this Module about?”

In this Module, Homec students learn:

•          Health problems which are related to excessive / insufficient of nutrients

•          Choose a dish suitable for the diet related diseases and justify your reasons for choosing it

“What are the Home Economics Assessment Tasks?”

1.        Learning Journeys Assessments and Online Reflection

a.        Students will go for two Learning Journey location within the three weeks:

i.          Science Centre

ii.         Health Promotion Board (HPB)

b.        Science Centre and HPB trip assessment – 5% of total marks

i.          The group of 4 shall post AT LEAST 2 photos of the trip they went.

ii.         EACH INDIVIDUAL member of the group of 4 will submit a 100 word online reflection posted on LMS.
