Overview

In Bukit View Secondary School (BVSS), Design & Technology (D&T) is part of a holistic broad-based education. Through it we aim to:
•  develop students to be self-motivated and to think creatively and critically.
•  promote design awareness and appreciation among students.
•  help pupils acquire knowledge and skills in design and technologies for possible
careers in these fields of study.

D&T Syllabus
Our D&T curriculum comprises both lower and upper secondary. The lower secondary D&T is a compulsory coursework-based subject while that in the upper secondary is an elective subject to cater to the interest and aptitude of students who choose to pursue D&T at a higher level.

Both the lower and upper secondary syllabus comprises two components, the written Examination (30%) and the coursework: the design process in solving a design problem as documented in a design journal and presentation boards, and the making of the final product (70%).

For the Written Examination, students are required to show their knowledge and understanding of Design and application of simple Technologies. Students will be expected to call upon the experience of designing via the design process-in-action.
For the coursework component, students are assessed based on:
•  the extent and quality of research.
•  the ability to plan.
•  execute and monitor the progress of the Design Project.
•  the ability to record critical information.
•  identify situations, investigate needs.
•  idea conceptualization and development showing creative and analytical
thoughts in response to the need being addressed.
•  quality of the design proposal.
•  overall practical skills management in the resolution of artifact.
