Background

Bukit View Secondary School introduced Hockey (boys) as a Co-Curricular Activity in November 2004.

Coach: Mr Mohamed Ishak Bin Ismal

Activities:

The boys train on hockey turf (artificial grass) once a month as games are held on hockey turfs either at Delta Sports Complex, CCAB Bukit Timah campus or NTU. The boys look forward to these trainings as it gives a sense of real hockey play on a full sized pitch. In addition, a few friendly games are organized during the year. The boys have played against schools like Jurong West Secondary, Orchid Park Secondary and Canberra Secondary.

During the June Holidays 2005, a day camp was conducted where the theory component was taught and tested. The boys watched hockey videos of international tournaments like Germany Vs India 2003 Olympics, and picked up useful pointers to improve their positional play. Team-building games were also conducted to instill esprit de corps amongst members.

The hockey boys also attended a 2-day Combined Sports Camp together with Volleyball and Table–tennis in December 2005. The boys were divided into several teams taking part in several sports-related activities. There was the ‘Spartacus Challenge’ and a Circuit drill which tested the boys' endurance and physical wits. Teams were also assigned to invent a game and present to other teams.
